EO-14675
NOTICE OF RECEIPT OF BALLOT TITLE AND NOTICE OF ELECTION
Notice is hereby given on July 29, 2026, the PILOT ROCK FIRE DISTRICT 7-401 filed a ballot title for the November 3, 2026 General election ballot with Umatilla County Elections Division.
The following shall be the ballot title:
Caption: Five Year Local Option Tax for General Operations
Question: Shall the District continue to impose $0.82 per $1,000 of assessed value to maintain its current level of service?
Summary: This measure renews the existing local option tax at its current rate. It does not increase the tax. Revenue from the renewal would continue to fund emergency response services that directly benefit the community. Without renewal, funding for the Quick Response Team (QRT) would end, resulting in the loss of the local ambulance service. This could increase emergency response times and reduce access to immediate medical care during emergencies.
The measure would also continue funding for firefighter safety by providing personal protective equipment and other essential safety resources needed to respond to fires, medical emergencies, vehicle accidents, and other incidents.
Renewing the current local option tax would help maintain existing emergency services, preserve local ambulance response, and ensure firefighters have the equipment needed to safely serve the community. The measure maintains the current tax rate while continuing funding for these essential public safety services.
As indicated in ORS 250.195, an elector may file a petition for review of ballot title in Umatilla County Circuit Court no later than 5:00 p.m. August 7, 2026.
